Hallmark Cards in the Mail
Social Distancing - Staying Connected

During this time of social distancing, what better way to stay connected than through the U.S. Mail? Hallmark greeting cards is now giving away 2 million greeting cards that customers can mail to friends and family to spread encouragement as the nation grapples with the coronavirus pandemic. Hallmark announced the giveaway March 27 and initially planned to donate 1 million cards, but the company doubled the number this week.

The Postal Service is helping Hallmark promote the giveaway and providing other support. When you can go to greetings.Hallmark.com/CareEnough to request a card pack, you can also select a link that takes you to usps.com where you can order stamps.

The Hallmark is encouraging people to share the news of the giveaway on social media using the hashtag #CareEnough.

Use of Full Service IMb goes into effect on January 26, 2014. To continue qualifying for Postal discounts, mailers will need to comply with all requirements associated with Full Service. This link, as well as other pages on the RIBBS site, has all the pertinent information on this coming requirement.

The link below provides a high-level overview of the two proposal presented to the Postal Rate Commission (PRC) from the USPS Board of Governors regarding pricing increases in 2014. One is based on the Consumer Price Index (1.7%) which is normally used for the basis of the annual pricing increases permitted by the 2006 Postal Legislation. In extreme circumstances, the USPS is permitted to make an "exigent" request. Due to the continued Pension Plan Funding requirement, they made such a request this year. That request, if approved by the PRC, could allow an additional 4.2% increase providing some additional revenue relief to current operating expenses. Combined, if both proposals are approved, could increase postal pricing and fees by an average 5.9%. The PRC has 45 days to respond to the CPI request and 90 days for the Exigent request. Both filings were made on Pricing increases will be effective on Sunday, January 26, 2014.
